Lions and Acrobats

Hic Sunt Leones.

This is a Latin term you would see in many old maps. In English, this means here there be lions. It represents an unknown territory, where one must tread carefully. Sailors and explorers going to these lands go to the unfamiliar. Yet it also speaks about discovery, of going to new and exciting new places. There is the fear of the unknown and yet the exhilarating promise of the new.

If the world of OPM is a map, Lions and Acrobats would be hic sunt leones. There is something strange about their music. They sound like that they are slightly out of phase with one another, as if they are playing the same song at different times, or different songs at the same time. This results in a more lush, more complex sound that lulls you in and compels you to listen more closely. Also their themes are strange. You feel an almost scholarly (or if you want, nerdy) approach to their songwriting. Even then, this strangeness makes them even more interesting and more compelling.

Hic Sunt Leones.

Take this as warning. Or if you want, an invitation.
